Smart sounds pretty worthwhile, though don't look for perfection.
AA is fine for sobriety if one really persists with all the mantras.
I prefer a more open interactive communication, minus too many dogmas.
There are plenty of current bad issues re alcohol that can be debated openly.
As for religion, that's fine too. At least AA doesn't stipulate one specific religion.
