Day 8 Check in

Hi SR! Happy Monday.

I completed a week without a drink yesterday for the first time in I don't know how long. I've been trying to think and remember the last time I went a week without drinking. It's likely been a couple years at least. The most I've gone is about 2 or 3 days so this is significant for me.

I've been going to AA and reading and of course spending time here on SR.

Like I've said before, I'm fortunate as I hadn't progressed as far as some on here. I hope I'm not discouraging anyone because my withdrawals were very mild. My addiction was progressing though and it was only a matter of time before I switched from beer to vodka and switched from pounding beers after work to guzzling liquor in the morning as I've seen some on here notate.

All said, I'm still very happy with my decision. I've had a few mild cravings, but I've been able to think it through. Remembering how I do not want to feel the guilt the next morning. No reason to put myself through that torment any longer.

I hope everyone having a hard time will keep their head's up! From the veterans who've been sober for years, the early struggles appear to be well worth it!

Lot's of love!
