After a 20 year battle I had to admit that, although I managed controlled drinking sometimes, the effort was immense, and there were still many more times when I lost control.
those lost control moments got more and more and the years and my alcoholism progressed.
Accepting that I wasn't, and would never be a normal drinker was actually a great weight off my shoulders.
Normal drinkers don't have to fight so bone crunchingly hard to be normal - they just are.
