I live with an active alcoholic. My husband drinks every day & gets drunk every day. My house ALWAYS has alcohol in it and I am still 6 months sober. If you really want to be sober & fully accept that you have no more room for alcohol in your life, you can do it! I'm not saying it's easy but it is not impossible to do.
