Welcome Econ. Most likely a lot of people do know, I thought the same thing but my wife knew and so did some others around me. Our addiction would have us think we are fooling others, but in the end we are merely fooling ourselves.
Admitting the problem exists is a big step - give yourself some credit for doing so. Now you need to make a plan to first sober up and then stay that way - have you every tried any of the "formal" sobriety methods like Meetings, counseling or self help?
