Wanting alcohol isn't stupid. Desire is an emotion and emotions are uncontrollable and often downright inconvenient. For example, I am a happily married man, but catching a glimpse of cleavage makes me want to turn my head. It's not because I'm
stupid.
Drinking alcohol when you know it's bad for you - well that's just poor decision making. The good news is that poor decision making can be fixed.
My abstinence is all about allowing my decision making to override my emotional response to alcohol.
