sun reflects off clouds from behind a white mountain
draping ribbons of scarlet across the spring sky
like memories in my heart sad and serene
that fade painfully into lost days and dreams
while in the east a pregnant moon stabs a hole
in a cumulous pillow that once threatened rain
but now surrenders to wisp and wind and night
so full and alive even the birds silent themselves
in awe
