I cans see why you chose comfortably numb but I really dont see it as a song of recovery, I really did identify with that song when I was using to me it's more about who the person feels when during their using time...

Come on, now.
I hear you’re feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re sayin’.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can’t explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
There’ll be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe it’s working. good.
That’ll keep you going for the show.
Come on it’s time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re sayin’.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

To me the whole songs about using, it's exactly how I felt atleast when I would be sitting in my room alone after the party was over and I was still hitting a bong for hours.....

Come on, now.

Get you on your feet again
(I interprate that as his drug of choice talking to him)

(I interprate this as while he is on the drug he knows he isn't like this naturally but he's so consumed that he is comfortably numb to me that just says he's in the addict stage not recovery)

(I see these parts as Him needing to use the drug to function)

( To me this is about him realizing he's too late to change, maybe that's not it's meaning but thats what it meant to me because when I first heard this song when I was using I was like my life, I had no many ambitions as a child and I was consumed and drugs and drug activity and thought it was too late to change.)

You might view the song in a different light because we all interprate things differently, it's just to me this is more of a using song. If you see this post up what the song means to you, I'm actually interested to see it in a different light.
