Yes, I had that same revelation when I quit drinking. I thought it would be extremely obvious to everyone that I wasn't holding a drink. Or that I would (god forbid) REFUSE a FREE DRINK!

Years later, I can now say with confidence that very few, if any, events do not accommodate those who do not drink. And I can't recall EVER being the only non-drinker, and that was when I used to pay attention to what everyone else was drinking.

What I DO notice is how sloppy, incoherent, and silly many drinkers become as they hold conversations they seem convinced are fascinating to others. I'm sure I looked like that a LOT. It also amazes me how little alcohol it takes to change the average person's demeanor. And drinkers really do not smell very good, to me anyway. At first, they smelled "enticing" to me. Now, they just remind me of the odor of the carpet in an old bar that should have been replaced many years ago.

So BOUDICCA -- CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOU PASSED A REAL MILESTONE THERE!!!!
