I found that sugar cravings were generally just a sign of low blood sugar. I tried to avoid sugar completely when I first quit and pretty much still do. A healthy snack with a couple of glasses of water would cure my sugar cravings and the sugar cravings quickly disappeared for me.
After reading up on PAWS, I wanted to do all I could to minimize the effects and feel better ASAP and that included integrating a healthy diet into my new lifestyle.

Sugar itself can be addicting and once you start eating it to 'cure' the sugar cravings it will just make you want more. Plus the blood sugar crash that comes a bit after you've eaten the sugar can easily be confused for craving alcohol, something I wanted to avoid.
