Before deciding to quit, I resented him sooo bad. He's someone I've always feared, but looked up to. I knew I had to keep him at a distance from my drinking, simply because I knew if it came down to it, I'd never speak to him again if my drinking came into discussion.
Now that I'm sober (which I haven't exactly told him yet), I've started to notice that the man isn't the d***head I always had him pegged as... And that yes, he actually does respect me and my opinions, even if we rarely see eye-to-eye. And it's something that I really look forward to: Getting to actually know the man, rather than keeping him at arm's length.
