TTB, I kind of hesitate to post this in the secular forum, but you asked a direct question about higher power and AVRT, and I have thought a good deal about this, so here is my answer. I sincerely hope this does not offend anyone on this forum as being too out of place.
I personally feel that AVRT is a tool made available to me by a benevolent God. As freshstart says, "He does place resources within reach for me from time to time."
Do you know the old story of the man in the flood? He is drowning and a boat comes by to save him. He refuses to get in and says, "God will save me." He drowns, and then demands of God why He did not save him. And God says, "Well, who do you think sent that boat?"
I don't see why AVRT could not be a version of that boat.
