I was in sales for 10 years, big company, Fortune 500 clients. Did business meetings all the time. Never once in my career as a salesman or a sales manager was drinking considered part of our pitch. My main clients were PR & Advertising firms, too, and they do a lot of drinking. Not on the playing field though. In the real business world, sales are made when numbers and services match up. Unless you are trying to sell a 3rd World Guerilla dictator 1500 machine guns under the cover of darkness, a salesperson is not closing deals at a bar.
