Introduce Myself

New to the site and also the thought process of sobriety. I have a long and checkered history with alcohol abuse along with a family history. My dad has been in rehab and also tried to commit suicide last year due to his alcohol problems and I am finally having to admit to myself that I have a problem as well. While I haven't had anything life changing in a bad way happen to me from my alcohol use I can see a pattern of my drinking getting worse. I don't want to be like my dad and so I am choosing now at age 41 to become sober. I am doing this for myself but also for my children who deserve to have a father that isn't slurring his words or stumbling around the house in an inebriated state. Today is the first day of sobriety and I hope to make this a life long endeavor. Please wish me luck.
