It is still the same out there. Go figure!
After losing everything but what I could carry to booze and hard drugs, I discovered sobriety. After over 5 years sober I paid off all debts, finished my associates degree, had money in the bank, and most importantly the respect of my daughter. Things were going so well I decided that if I stayed away from "hard" drugs I would be OK. I had heard a million times about how this is a progressive disease and your never "cured". It took a few months of drinking a bottle of bourbon a day and occasional drug binges to lose it all. I managed to save my job with treatment and have put months of sobriety together until I recently began slipping. I can do two or three days before a slip. I found out about complacency the hard way. I Hope to learn something from everyone here. Glad I found this site!
