Hello fellow Augustonians,
Hope you all are doing well! Had a busy, enjoyable weekend so far. Gave my second ever lead last night at an AA meeting.... talked for 50 minutes, and still did not have time to cover everything. But I was comfortable up there sharing my story... what life was like in my former drunken life, how I came to get sober, and what life is like now. The best part is what it is like now! Awesome! I love sobriety!!!!
Today, we had a local AA conference - 18th annual "Sunlight of the Spirit". I went to listen to the first and last speakers of the day (there were 5 total), and to partake in the delicious buffet. There were several hundred people there, with periods of sobriety that ranged from a man with 50 years, to a girl with 5 days! The keynote speaker was John from Dallas, TX, who gave a riveting, amazing message.
In the middle part of the day when I left the conference, I went to my son's baseball tournament (13U), where his team won both games, and Johnny Jr. pitched the second game, went the distance (6 innings), and got the win (6 to 1). Proud of that boy!!!
Then wife and I came home to take pictures of our beautiful daughter and her boyfriend, going off to prom! Proud of that lovely young girl!
Then back to the conference for the buffet and keynote speaker.
It was a GREAT day!
Back to baseball tournament tomorrow morning.... we're a #2 seed, and play at 9:00 a.m. Hoping for another strong outing!
Take care all!
