Yes, agreed. Still though, unrecognised AV is not experienced as AV at that moment in time, but as normal thinking performed in the first person "I" state of mind. It is only in retrospect that we can deduce unrecognised AV.
This is similar to the paradox of "if a tree falls in the forest, and no one hears it fall, did it make a sound?"
