Yes, I think it's fair and accurate to expect increased beast activity surrounding holidays if they have historically been big drinking events.
Anyone who has ever had a toddler knows what its like to be barraged by begging and tantruming. Good god you want to give in to the demands just to get a moments peace.
But really who is in charge here? You follow what I'm saying? Anyone who has stuck to their guns with a toddler also knows that tantruming/begging is reduced if not reinforced, if ignored. There may be a burst at first, but it does end and it does lessen with lack of reinforcement. Thats behavior modification 101. The beast is like a child and should be treated as such. It is not wise enough to be in charge. End of discussion.
Not always easy, especially in the beginning, but with practice it's only as "turbulent" as you allow it to be.
