I live with 2 recovering roommates I met through my program of recovery. Recently we invited a 3rd recovering roommate to live with us. He has two young sons who stay with him on the weekends. Today I came home and saw the boys so I walked up to them and shook their hands and introduced myself.
I then realized that I no longer avoid children and I'm no longer scared that my presence is going to corrupt them because I am an addict/alcoholic.
I don't think that is necessarily a little thing, but I hadn't noticed that change before today.
