Any of you have partners who drink?
I'm involved with a woman who seems to have developed an alcohol problem.
During our entire relationship(4 years), I have been sober. I have never shied away from people who drink normally, but over the past two years her drinking has escalated. I am relatively successful, although, I lost a great deal through drinking. She seemed stable, had a career and we meshed well. Through a crap economy, she lost her job soon after we became involved, and has never seemed to get back into the groove of her career and this bothers her greatly.
I, now, basically support her. And it has been tough emotionally, and financially, for me. I am older and really should be saving for retirement, which I see no way to do now.
As I type, I am waiting for her to get out of bed and take her to a rehab center. Kind of a come-to-jesus(purely a figure of speech) event last night.
She seems sincere, but I have my doubts about her resolve.
Anyway, I hear her stirring upstairs.
Just venting, or talking to myself. I don't have any worries about myself drinking again, just my desire to find peace in an uncertain future.
