One of the fundamental ideas of AVRT is the decision (the Big Plan): "I will never drink/use again, and I will never change my mind." That was how I thought of it, even from the start, even before I was exposed to any rehab or program or anything. It just seemed obvious to me...and it still does.
So even though I spent years in AA and eventually gravitated toward the SMART Recovery program, I am a big fan of AVRT. I used it without even knowing I was using it!
