You have probably either gone or not gone by now. Myself I have a rule that I do not go into any situation unless I have a way out. This way I can challenge myself, but if it becomes overwhelming it's easy to escape it. In a situation as a boat or aircraft I would never consider it unless there was someone I could fully depend on defending me in case I do find myself in a defenseless mode.
