My experience has been that they know exactly where their stashes are at all times no matter what they say.
AB learned every way possible of getting around detection of the ID, through talking with others in the mandatory weekly alcohol/drug classes, so as to minimize (as much as possible) its infringement on his drinking.
It's good to have another plan.
