certainly think it could be that way for others. Once I got sober I found that I continued to do other self destructive things that were causing me problems in my life...but in the absence of that I don't think I would have delved in deeper if there was really nothing to look for. I have found that some folks want to convince others there is "something deeper" just because it was that way for them. so um...no I don't think there has to be a deep dark secret
