You don't have to cut and run. If you want to stand by her and support her in her efforts to live a sober life, then by all means do so. But do not fool yourself into thinking that you can save her, or fix her, or change her. She is an adult and if she wants to drink or take pills, she has the right to drink or take pills. If she wants recovery from all that, then that will be her battle, not yours. It's a long road and it will require constant vigilance on her part.
