I tried exactly what you describe.
Didn’t work for me.
Your wife chooses her behavior.
You choose to accept or reject her behavior.
You also choose your own behavior.
Keeping your kids safe is something both of you are responsible for, if one of you fails then it's up to the other to pick up the slack.
Only you can decide if your kids are safe.
