Unsettling conversation. And yes, I was eavesdropping. See what I get? LOL Thanks to a pocket dial I overheard this conversation between a friend of mine and the guy who hired me (after only a phone interview):
Friend: I heard you hired Gneiss, she's my best friend.
Hiring Guy: Yeah, she starts in a couple weeks. Is she good? Would you vouch for her?
F: Yeah, she's very smart. She basically got me through undergrad.
HG: Cool. Are you dating her or something?
F: No, we're just friends.
HG: Oh. Is she pretty?
F: Yeah, she's real pretty.
Now here I am sooooooo female; I am both complimented and insulted. I kinda like that my friend told the guy I'm pretty (always a sucker for a compliment) but... really? Why exactly did the guy hire me? Creeper. LOL Always the best attitude to start a job, right? Oh well. So goes life, best get used to it.
