They do seem to all of a sudden have a LOT more friends when they are using.
My AS was looking for a job and he kept getting a lot of calls late. One night some guy called our home phone (usually it was son's cell) after midnight. I answered and he asked for son in a stoned voice. Later when I asked my son who it was he said "Someone about a job." I said "After midnight?"
