he's doing okay
Hey everyone,
I thought I would check in about my husband. After starting the intensive treatment last week, he seems to be doing okay so far.
One interesting thing I've noticed: his emotions seem to be right on the surface, more than ever before. He's always been a hold-it-all-in kind of guy, so it makes a change. As trite as it might sound, he and his counsellor are working on being more in touch with all that. (So that alcohol doesn't become the one and only pressure release valve.)
He seems to really like and trust his counsellor too, which is nice.
You really do have to take things one day at a time, cliche or no. As I was saying yesterday it could be that he'll never drink again, and it could be that this weekend will bring another binge. There's nothing I can do about it, except enjoy things as they are today. And I am happy seeing him more at peace.
