Remember the old term "broken family"? I don't think that phrase is used much anymore, but when I was growing up, you'd hear, "Oh, she's from a broken family," meaning, the parents had broken up and divorced or separated.
But, because my life was so much better AFTER my mother divorced my father, I always considered my family not "broken," but "fixed."
