I think it's a smart decision to postpone your trip for a while until you get this straightened out with yourself. I've had to break plans recently in order to not put myself in vulnerable situations. He should understand that you NEED this time for recovery & that tempting situations too soon will only land us back to square one. I'm glad you're here. It's help me a lot simply reading threads & posting & I may be going to my first meeting today.
I would also look into obtaining some group support maybe through going to an AA meeting when you feel ready. I liked getting my feet wet here first, but some face to face time may go a long way in order to help you stick with that "taking it one day at a time" process.
