The inner relief that came from admitting to myself that i was an addict & alcoholic was, (and continues to be!) immense. It helps to keep my life in proper perspective and to allows me to find solutions to my problems one day at a time. i go to meetings because there are those there that have similiar problems. Some have found a new way to live that i can learn something from and ask for help. Some are going thru problems that sharing my experience, strength, and hope will help them. There's also a greater sense of not being alone that comes from being at a meeting. This also helps to keep the disease in check, because it can regain control of my life more easily when i am isolating from others. Taking part in & being part of an atmosphere of recovery in meetings helps me to establish and maintain an atmosphere of recovery in my heart.
