Here is a very well done interview with Tavis Smiley and Dave Matthews. Personally, I feel that Dave is amazing in his lyrics because he dances around addiction and codendency. Dave has had a traumatic life... sister murdered by her husband and his father died when he was a young boy - of cancer. I feel that he uses his lyrics for healing and grace. I know I do .... and the songs are so open that one song can mean many things. It would be very hard to figure out dave's meanings because once you hear them it's all too easy to make it your own.
