Even "natural" and herbal remedies have side effects. The only difference between them and medications that doctors tend to prescribe is that the medications are required by law to state the side effects and possible dangers. Natural and herbal remedies do not have that requirement.
That said. I think it is wonderful that there are people who can deal with their mental illness without the use of medication. I for one choose not to live in hell because I am afraid to take medications that can help me live a productive life. This is a personal choice and I neither recommend it or discourage anyone from talking to their doctor regarding their options as far as medications go.
