A student asked the Zen teacher Shunryu Suzuki, why Japanese tea cups where made to be so delicate...so easily breakable.
"It's not that they're too delicate," he answered, "but that you don't know how to handle them. You must adjust yourself to the environment, and not vice versa."
I myself have to keep this in mind when it appears things around me become difficult. I can't control "things around me"...I CAN control my reaction to them.
