One thing to consider before assuming her debt again in the future is something that happened because I assumed my daughter's debt. She ended up with a very good credit rating and was then able to get about $10,000 between 2 credit cards and a bank loan. Not a good thing for an active addict. If I had left it alone she would have had a poor credit rating and no chance to get "free" drug money. I refuse to do it again and her credit rating is going down. But that is her mess to clean up.
