Life or death, that is what it boils down to.... drink and die... stop drinking and live!
I can tell you one thing that I can assure you of, no matter what your problem is, quitting drinking is sure not going to make it worse and odds are that it will make it a lot better!
After 40 years of drinking I figured out that being sober thanks to AA has made me happier then I have been in over thirty years.
