Laura Dorwart, Ph.D. is a health journalist and entertainment writer. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, where she was the 2017-2018 Fletcher Jones Fellow. Laura's doctorate work focused on mental health narratives in mainstream media and how they affect the processes of diagnosis and treatment. She also earned her M.F.A. in creative nonfiction writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles, and a B.A. Cum Laude from Barnard College. Laura has written for the New York Times, The Guardian, A&E, BuzzFeed, VICE, Bitch, SheKnows, Catapult, Playboy, McSweeney's, Dazed, Dilettante Army, Ravishly, AfterEllen, Autostraddle, Thought Catalog, and others. She lives in Ohio with her family.
