Hi dollhouse and welcome. If you do feel comfortable sharing your story, I'd encourage you to do so. It's pretty remarkable how much comes from the sharing here. Hearing others' stories of recovery can be really helpful and also, I've found that the writing I do here helps me too in my own path. congratulations on your 3 years! best gf |

Hi, Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the Grace of my higher Power and you people in these rooms I havent had a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. and for that I am truely greatful. Thanks dollhouse for sharing and welcome to SR. That is great on ur 3 yrs sober. That's a many one days at a time collected to get u where u r today. We would love to hear ur story. It's kinda interesting when you share your story now and then down the road share again and so on. You will see how ur story goes thru changes each yr u stay sober. As u continue to grow and mature in recovery so does ur thinking and feelings towards urself, the world, ur recovery. Even tho u may not think u have much to share now , ud be surpised at who needs to here ur experience. U will realize that u are not at all alone in ur addiction. So many of us have been there dont that during our drinking and using days. As u read other peoples post u will eventually see that we are all here for pretty much the same reason. To learn how to stay clean and sober by sharing our own experiences, strengths and hopes with each other. So for me, I welcome u and ur story. Thanks for letting me share.

| Welcome, dollhouse. Yes, the NA step working guide is very intense. It is also very thorough and extremely helpful to my recovery. So, I would suggest finding someone you trust to go through it with you. If it's not your sponsor, then either get another sponsor or find a trusted person in recovery to guide you. No matter what, we've got to keep moving forward on our own recovery, right? Congrats on your 3 years!

Hang in there Wishful. You are as much of an INSPIRATION as many in these rooms. We have all taken just one small step at a time. ONE DAY AT A TIME. JUST FOR TODAY. Even if its a minute at a time to stay clean and sober. If u ever need some encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, a place to vent, to share something happy or joyful, something disturbing, questionable...just anything, there is always someone here to help u. So YOU like others NEVER EVER have to feel alone. I was always afraid to ask for help because i didnt want to disturb anyone. Then my Sponsor shared with me that is ok to bother people. Ask for what u want or need, take what u want or need from them at that moment and move on. It's like USING people. Ud be surprised at how many people when asked for help would actually help u. Just let them show u what u need them to show u, thank them and off u go. : ) You got what u wanted from them and now u can take care of that project, paper, homework, anything....with no problems. So hang in there we r all here to help u. Thanks for letting me share.

I used mostly at home . . . thought I was different because my drug of choice was alcohol and I came in young. I've come to realize that a story is like an episode of law and order. The details and locations change, but the plot lines are generally the same. we can all relate to compulsively using something that was poisoning our souls and bodies. How long have you been at your step work? And what step do you feel stuck on? You might be working your steps in ways you don't realize just by living a sober life (practicing your principles in all of your affairs and all that). Virginia |
