| *Newbie* 19 yr old from Australia.
Hi my name's Jo and I'm a 19 year old alcoholic from Australia. I'm really struggling at the moment. My doctor put me on a drug called Campral a couple of months ago to dampen the cravings. It's not working. Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself. :p |

Hi Pauline. Today is my 7th day sober. I started drinking when I was 14 and have been put in psychiatric hospitals to detox before but have never been to rehab. I can't seem to find anywhere that offers rehab so I'm left pretty much alone to fight this. I started attending AA when I was 18 but haven't been to a meeting for about 5 months. Time I went again I think. I don't have a sponsor and never speak at the meetings, I'm very shy when I'm sober but I love listening to everyones' stories. |

Hey Joanna, I just sent you a private message. And sorry, I called you 18 instead of 19! How dare I! I goofed!

Welcome Jo, Congrats on your 7 days sober! Glad you posted, I am sure you will find lots of support here on this site. I am an alcoholic/addict and am 2 months sober. I just wanted to say that AA can really help you out if you give them a call, especially if you feel like taking a drink/drug. Whenever you are like that, just put it off while you call and tell them how you're feeling. You can put it off as often as you like...you don't have to get wasted. You can stay sober...one day at a time and sometimes one minute at a time. It gets easier. Best wishes to you! I hope you let us know how you're doing.
