Crap Day

Ever have one of those days where nothing goes right, things take 10 times as long as they should, and you end your day with a headache?
Granted, everything got done but geeez, sometimes I wonder "why me?!"

It's Friday, it's beautiful out, and I'm going to a baseball game. I would really LOVE to have a few (or 16) beers. It was always something I did when I had a busy, crappy Friday and I always felt like I deserved it on a day like this. So, I'm really thinking it sounds good.

I'll go home and tell my gf how I feel. I won't have a drink but I just really needed to vent.

Thanks for reading.

Have a great weekend.

Oh Doll,

Hang in there!

I think you just have to figure other nice things to do for yourself on a bad day. Find some other kind of treat - like ice cream, a movie, special coffee, whatever works for you.

Have fun at the game!

Awww, hon!! Sorry you had a bad day - I think something is in the air!! It's going around - EVERYONE GET SOME GAS MASKS, QUICK!! (holding breath....)

Being outside will help you. Have a GREAT time at the game - scream your butt off - even if it's during a time-out!

Hugs,
DG

Hey PD,

I think it's great that you're able to say this and get it out. And share it with your GF. Just expressing stuff like this releases the energy and dissipates the desire.

Yup, some days are like that. Mine was Wednesday -- yuck. Today's a good day. And maybe later I'll go for an iced latte even though I feel good!

Enjoy the game!

Thanks y'all!

The game was fun -- and I got over my "mood". I was pretty grumpy and let my gf know when I got home. I told her to just ignore me if I was being a brat. It all worked out and I didn't even have a beer. Sat. night I even hung out with some neighbor friends while they drank margaritas. I had a good time and didn't care about not drinking. It's a good feeling.

Have a great Monday!

Yep, I have a lot of those days... Luckily I've survived enough relapses to absolutely KNOW FOR SURE that a drink (or 16) won't help a darn thing! It will only make me worse worse worse

We all have those days

It seems as if those days are extremely long. Hang in there and dont drink. Some of the things we hear in recovery sound corny however they work. THIS TOO SHALL PASS. When things are going back for me I have to sit still for a few moments and look at my surroundings. Am I doing too much. The one thing I have had to learn was to take time for me. If only 5 minutes. It's my time!!!! Then I get back to the hussle and bussle. I always keep in mind HALT.

You know - I've realized that even when I have those few seconds in a bad day that I'd like a drink, I won't do it. I'm so happy I've finally decided that and that I don't break down and head to the liquor store. In that past, I always would have. I was having a meltdown yesterday on my way home from work and for literally 1 second I thought, Eh I could go get some beer and then I just knew I wouldn't. It wasn't even an option.....so I just kept crying and got home and got over it.

Thank goodness.

Thank you SR!
