Hope - I can tell you from my own personal experience that doing the work of the 12 steps is a big confidence builder for me. What step are you working on now? Do you go to women's meetings? Also, therapy is a great idea if you can do that as well. Like most things, I think, it comes down to loving yourself. That journey has definitly been one of many baby steps. It's about building a relationsip with yourself first and foremost - treating yourself with respect and love, honoring your values and sticking up for yourself. You can read every self help book on the market, but a lot of this actually comes down to just time and experience.

Building confidence is definitely done in baby steps. I had absolutely no self-confidence whatsoever, didn't even know what I liked or didn't like anymore. I felt like, when I stopped drinking, everything had been stripped away. All that was left was my soul. So, I began to listen and be guided and it was hard, because I was used to telling my little 'soul voice' to bug off. But the more I listened, the louder it got. You can build on where you are now Hope! |
