Hey Mom, I just wanted to reply. I can't offer you any advice like some here can,but I wanted to say hi and to let you know tha someone is reading your post. I think you know how dumb it is and reaching out to stop your self before you start. It sound like your doing something right! If you have to write 100 times tonight to keep yourself from getting that wine, then do it. If you happen to pick up that wine think before you drink and during and after, then ask yourself was it worth it. Anyway, the girls will tell youto go to a meeting, call your sponcer... Good luck! Hey Mom, I know the feeling and I'm working on day 6. We can dig deep and do it, stay sober. Read as much as you can on this site. The good people here have also posted other sites to visit. I haven't yet gone to any meetings, but I now know where they are and I plan to attended. You can do it, just for today, work for today. when tomorrow comes it will be today. Hang in there, I'm thinking/praying for you. I had my first sober weekend in a long time and it feels great. dee |

| PHONE AA!!!
Hi Mom, I think it's good that you had the courage to stand back and ask for help before picking up that drink. Talk to someone in AA. If I ever have thoughts of drinking, I think of the hangover. How will I feel knowing how dangerous it is and doing it anyway? I might keep drinking to numb the guilt? My tolerance levels have changed, I might die. Best wishes to you, please hang in there today. Love DolphinBlue |

...your post has been on my mind and there are a couple of things I want to add. Regardless of whether or not I feel guilty or die (these are hypothetical ideas) I know for a fact that once I have that first drink - that one drink - I can't guarantee that I can control my thinking or behaviour. Once the craving sets in, after that first one (I'll have another, and another and so on) I am in trouble. Who knows what I'll do? I have an idea of how I'll feel when (if) I wake up the next day, it's not pretty. And...phone AA. Go to a meeting. They should help you over the phone if you have problems getting there. Best wishes Love DolphinBlue |

Hey Mom.... You still with us today? I am coming on this thread a day late... So I must be right on time...lol.. Question of the day is did you drink? I have a sponsee when she was about 2 mos sober came to my door "Denise, I want to drink". She said... I closed my door. I can see her through the window she turned and began to walk away, got to the gate and came back knocked I answered... She said"Denise, didnt you hear me? I want a drink!" I said "Yes" and closed my door...this time she got into her car and sat there for a moment.. Again she came back and knocked again I answered..."Denise, I DON'T want to drink"! I opened the door and let her in... I was able to help her then. We can not keep you from drinking if you want to drink. we can help you to help yourself when you DONT want a drink. I hope this post finds you sober, however if not just rember TODAY is what is important.
