Hi Everyone..... I was wondering if any recovering women out there could speak to the kinds of problems they may have had in recovery with respect to hormone fluctuations (menstrual cycles). Particularly things you have found successful in diminshing or alleviating symptoms and cravings for alcohol. I am 15 mos sober and by far, this presents the biggest challenge both in mood and craving. I appreciate any reflection on it. Thanks... Ghandi63 |

Hi Ghandi, Welcome to the recovery forums. I'm glad you found us. There is a wealth of information and resources on this website and the forums offer a lot of experience, strength and hope. I know exactly what you're talking about. During that time of the month when we don't feel that great it is real tempting to try to feel better. I know that emotionally I can get depressed in an overwhelmed sort of way....kind of like I'm always going to feel like this. But inevitably after it's over, I feel great again. I have to remember that....this too shall pass..... and work my program harder during that time The best thing I have found to lessen the monthly effects is exercise. When I'm active and exercising a lot, particularly cardiovascular-ly, pms symptoms are almost non-existent. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Welcome Ghandi, Thanks for the post. I believe you might also get some responses from the ladies over in the Women in Recovery fourm so I am going to attempt to move this over there too. Again thanks for the post. Blessings, Vinnie

In addition to eating a balanced diet, and drinking plenty of water and juice, try adding extra calcium in the week prior to that evil phoenix |
