| Hi
Just wanted to introduce myself to all of you. I just found this site recently and really like what I have read on here. I am addicted to alcohol. I use this as a way to deal with anxiety and panic attacks. Anyway, thanks for listening.

Hi Lin, Welcome! I'm an alcoholic too and I used to use alcohol to cope with anxiety/depression. And, SR is an amazing site and there are lots of great women here on the Women's Forum. I hope you keep posting. |

| Hi, Lin22. Welcome to SR. Awareness of our problem with alcohol is the first step. Glad to see you reaching out here. So... now what?

I do hope you are not using anti anxiety meds and mixing them with alcohol. Please read the info on the bottle if you are. Have you tried to quit drinking before? Do you have a plan? Please let us know how we can help and we do understand

Hi Lin, I can so relate; I'm a recovering alcoholic, too. Alcohol had been the way I coped with stress, pain, fears... or to just numb out from it all and hide... When I first came in, it was really hard to trust that my sponsor, the other women in the program, my HP... that it would really work.... sometimes it just felt like I was holding on.... I'm really glad you shared! Warmly, Michelle |

Lin, I also drank to deal with anxiety attacks and depression. I have been very surprised and pleased to find that I rarely have anxiety attacks since I became sober!! I guess there is alot less reason to be anxious when you're not hiding your drinking, lying, or ashamed about what you might have done while drinking the night before! LOL! Sending good thoughts, Diana |

Welcome, Lin!! I'm glad you're here. We've all been where you are, so just keep reading and posting and you'll see that there IS a way out of the alcoholic haze. Promise!! You can do it if you just believe that you can!! You are #1 right now, so concentrate on #1. Keep coming back, and hugs to ya, DG
