| Day 10 - and I went to my first meeting
Hi all, And thank you so much for the encouragement and great info about AA meetings. I went to one today. I was so nervous, I almost didn't get through the door and into the church. I was surprised by how many people were there! There were close to 40 of us. And I felt a little out of place - most of them have been sober a really long time and they know each other well. But, it was great to feel their acceptance and to hear their stories. It was clear that many of them were speaking to me - telling me their beginnings and giving me encouragement. I wish I had had the courage to share more about myself, I know they wanted to hear my story. But I was so emotional - I knew I couldn't speak without crying. I'll try next time. I just wanted to share this. I'm feeling pretty good! |

| Great! I am so glad you went to a meeting, toliveagain. And, yes, it will get easier and easier to go and also to share. Don't worry about crying at a meeting. I was a big ball of walking Kleenex for months when I got sober in AA. The people there loved me and supported me through my fear and pain and it really did get better. What a wonderful beginning!

Glad to still have you here, ToLive, and thank you so much for sharing your experience and hope with us! You will come to realize, as well, that you helped each and every one of those people in that meeting just by showing up. Don't worry about the sharing. That will come in time.

That's great, TLA! Remember that the "oldies" were once "newbies", too! When you feel ready, get a sponsor (or temporary sponsor) to go w/ you to meetings. WHENEVER YOU ARE READY. My temporary sponsor always has extra Kleenex for me when I'm overcome w/ emotion - it's cleansing! Much love to you,
