| The Flock
Today I was in the van driving the long way around to the store. I passed by a lake close to my house and saw at least a couple hundren geese. The geese were all flocked together by an opening in the ice. I think they were Canadian geese just resting for a bit before they went on their way again on their long trip south. Sometimes I too take time to rest on my long trip in recovery. I feel like these boards is a break in the ice for all of us to flock together on are long haul. Geese like people or vis a versa tend to stick together when on a long trip only to go our own way once the trip is done. When I get in trouble or are troubled I tend to fly twards a flock going in the same direction as I am until I can be indipendent in a safe place. I always know a flock is there, I found you guys right! Same goes for all of you! Ha, I do wish I was flying someplace for the long winter here in NY! Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! Zoomer |

I think the geese are smarter than the humans here - this Canadian is cold brrr. Nice piece, zoomer, and very true.

| Hey LW, ya I like anything funkey. I do up my 12 year olds room and my teenage bys room with all the funkey stuff. I love all the 60's lights, posters... My daughter has her room all in animal print! I got mural size wall border of the jungle, then trimmed the top of the wall in zebra print wall border with a zebra print rug! Throw pillows and blanets are all zebra, lepard, tiger... Gosh I had a blast doing up her room. The boy's room is hard on the eyes too! Love it! It's strange, but we have a lot birds here lately! Ihave a lot of tres in my yard lke a small forest, and I get all kinds of birds even one time a white dove (for anyone who believesin signs, this was a sign of hope to me). I go to the shopping aria in my town and we have just flocks of 100s and 100s of little black birds, seagulls, pidgins. My theroy, is that after 9/11 in NYC (it's 3 hours away), that the birds are finding other places to roost. Ha, i got to keep my eye on the road, but I love trying to figure out what makes birds tick. The birds stick close to an intersection on the wires above so they can get heat from the cars. The hawks are multipling and they are all around because we are Developing fast and thier food (mice) has no place to hide. Ha, i tell my little ones I'm magic because when we are at a stop I blow into the air and the bird move from one place to the other. They are actally trying toget to the warmest spot, but my girls eyes get real big!Zoomer |

So glad Zoomer that you reminded me of this: Experts say that by using the V formation, each goose is in a sense "carried" by it's predecessor. The coherence of the group permits each goose to fly 1.7 times father than if they were alone. (people who follow the same orientation and share the same sense of belonging reach their goals more quickly and more easily because they benefit from common dynamics) If one goose leaves the formation, they all immediately feel the effects of resistance. He will therefore resume his position within the V formation without delay so that he can be carried by the group. (If humans were as crafty as geese, they would follow other humans who share the same objectives) When the goose who is leading the formation becomes tired, he gives up his place to another goose. (it is wise to accomplish the tasks required by the role) The geese in formation encourage their predecessors with their honking. (how do we encourage our leaders?) Finally, if a goose becomes sick or hurt they must leave the formation, two others will follow him to the ground to help and protect him. They stay with him until he can fly again or until he dies. Only then will they resume flying either alone or with another flock so they eventually join up with their original travelers. (if we were as crafty as geese, we would support others in this manner as well) Thanks for reminding me of this!!!! |

| Awsome Furgie!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the scientific exsplaination! I just abserver, but I'm truely glad that there is more than what I saw! I like the part of the two geese going with the sick one and the part where the leader knew it was time to give control to another. I learn a lot from just watching the things around me. I also miss learning more than what see! Please feel free Professior Furgie to jump in and tell me more! ((((((((Huggs)))))))))))) Zoomer
