Smile Last night

Last night I had my meeting with the consumer credit bureau to try and get my bills under control.. They are going to be able to help me.. Then when I was driving home I had some money in my pocket and was driving by the Purple Parrot (my usual gambling spot) the voice came into my head that said go on in and buy your smokes there and gamble five dollars. I started my self talk and kept telling my self that if I went in and gambled 5 it would turn into 10 and so on and so on.. I told my self that I know just like an alcoholic that one gamble and I am back and I won't stop.. I told myself that I knew that I couldn't stop and I wouldn't stop there and get my smokes that I had to go somewhere else and get them.. I told me that if I went in there the last week was for nothing so I had to drive by and not even look... GUESS WHAT?????? I DID IT I DROVE BY DIDN'T LOOK AND GUESS WHAT ELSE???? IT FELT SO GOOD TO SELF TALK OUT OF IT... I AM PROUD OF ME.....YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

Chey..

Chey,

that's great you were able to use yours self-talk so positively. A suggestion, try to plan your driving so you don't even have to pass these places.

Thanks Juls, though that is kind of hard, because they are everywhere around this town, Just about one on every corner.. But I think if I can just keep up the self talk and ban myself from these places hopefully I will make it..

Oh Chey!
What an incredible victory! I had tears in my eyes reading this.

Smokes are available at gas stations, drug stores, supermarkets, etc. Good for you for not stopping at the casino!

Another miracle in recovery today.
