| I have to evacuate...
I am so scared. I used to love the storms, I would sit through the tropical storms, and go to the beach during the hurricanes! But today things are different. We have a house that we own, children we adore and animals (gosh do we have a load of animals!!!). And now we have to evacuate. Hurricane Rita turned into a level 4 last night and I am terrified. I dont know my a$$ from my elbow right now. I dont know what to do first. My gf works at Shell chemical plant and HAS to work tonight and tomorrow night on night shift, so the brunt of getting everything ready is on me- that terrifies me too. Sobriety teaches me to not sweat the small stuff- what is the fine line to determine the small from the chaotic? lol. I don't want to drink or use today so I am thankful for that, and I am staying close to friends and family so I dont completely go cookoo, but geezzzz!!!!! I dont wanna GO!!!!!!!!!!! So pray for me, or chant something for me, or whatever it is you good people do- send it my way and send it fast! thanks amymarie

There are some possibilities- brother in Austin but my mom is going there, an aunt in Dallas, but we cant bring the animals...there is always something. I think we will just sorta drive... until we cant anymore. We love the road trips so maybe it wont be soooo bad. I just dont know what to do with my pets... we have a pig- we arent really supposed to have a pig here...he is just a baby, and I dont have a clue where i could bring him...! So no- we havent a plan.

Be safe! how about call ahead and temporarily put the animals in a shelter and you stay with family. When the storm (being positive here) passes you go get the animals and go back home.

I could put the 2 dogs and 2 cats in a shelter...but i cant put the pig in one. he will just have to go on the road trip with us. My brother is in Austin, but he has such a small apt - and there are alot of us....so... I feel much better after just posting. kinda takes some of the power out of my situation...

that is a good idea....I am sure with the situation the shelters are opening their doors. I know it would break my heart to do that to my cat and dog but sometimes we have to do what is best. Sneak the little piggy in with you? Again....be safe.

| Wishing you the best... I just wanted to say I feel for you. I think you'll be ok now though. You know that at the very least you just have to get out of there even if you have to sleep in your car I've done it with kids! LOL Not same kind of situation but I know it can be done. Can you get a hotel room? I've 'heard' that some hotels will take pets in these kind of sitatuions. What you can't put into a shelter, take with you. HUGS! You'll make it!! Good job on the will power you got going there also!!

there's no sneaking this little piggy...lol he screams, grunts, honks etc...constantly. plus he snores. they would know for sure! Good news is my bro just called and is 'borrowing' a house from a friend of his so we can all fit. (not the animals) but all the nephews and brothers and gf etc.... so that is a relief.
