Last night I had a great night. After work I went to a spin class, ate a healthy dinner, too a long soak bath, gave myself a facial, and finished a book. What amazes me is how well I take care and nurture my body and soul when I a not drinking. Usual Thursday nights consist of happy hour, midnight dinner at Jack in the box, and only 5 hours of sleep to feel like I want to crawl in a hole and die at work. It wasnt hard yesterday because of the massive hangover I had on Sunday has given me some steam to stay away for a while. I am not one to attned meeting everyday but I know I need to go atleast 3 days a week. It is important especially when I am feeling weak. I am still searching for a home group. I found a Monday night class for beginners that I think I will continue to go to. That helps but the problem is I dont want to drink on Mondays. It is not until Wed or Thurs when the desire sets in. I know I need to find a sponsor but I dont want someone is who is on my case if I dont go to daily meetings. One thing that makes feel different this time around I know that the first drink of anything (wine, beer, alcohol) is the one to avoid not"well let me jut stick to beer and I wont drink as much" I have tried that for 2 years now and it didnt help. Anyway sorry to ramble in so many directions. Thanks you for listening.

WOW! That sounds like the coolest evening, I am a little envious!!! Do remember, at SR, the site is always open 24/7......any day, any time. And all of us are "one day at a time"

Welcome to SR. I would be one of those sponsors to tell you to go to more meetings. It is important when you first get clean to do 90 meetings in 90 days. There is a reason for it. You can develop a support system right from the start. Lay a foundation for recovery. It won't kill you, but it will make you stronger.

Hi and welcome from me too. Listen, what I had to understand is doing it my way won't work. I had to completely surrender and follow others that had come before me, heck if it works for them why not me? So I would get that sponsor and that talk about what you think works for you later. Give it a shot, what do you have to lose?
